The Scope

FSC is looking for a dynamic and experienced membership professional to lead membership development and engagement across Europe. This is a unique opportunity to shape how one of the world's most recognized sustainability standards engages with its diverse European member base - spanning environmental NGOs, social organizations, and economic actors across the region. It combines strategic outreach, stakeholder engagement, and membership development with day-to-day member support.

Main Roles & Responsibilities

Membership Development
  • Lead the growth and diversification of FSC’s membership across Europe in line with its mission and values
  • Analyse the current membership landscape to identify gaps in geographic, sectoral, and chamber representation
  • Proactively identify, engage, and support the onboarding of new members who strengthen FSC’s impact and regional relevance

Outreach & Engagement
  • Design and implement inclusive outreach strategies to expand and diversify FSC’s European membership base
  • Foster meaningful engagement across chambers, countries, and stakeholder groups to strengthen participation and collaboration
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with members, regional networks, and civil society actors, drawing on a strong European professional network

Member Services
  • Provide responsive, high-quality support to members, ensuring clear understanding of FSC processes, governance, and strategic priorities
  • Deliver guidance, briefings, and capacity-building support to members across the region as needed
  • Act as a trusted liaison and advocate for European members within FSC International, ensuring their perspectives are heard

Your profile

The successful candidate will bring deep familiarity with the European landscape - its stakeholder ecosystems, regional dynamics, and cultural diversity - and will translate that knowledge into impactful membership strategies that strengthen FSC's mission on the ground.

Experience & Knowledge
  • University degree in Business Administration, International Relations, Communications, Environmental Studies, Social Sciences, or a related field
  • Experience in stakeholder engagement, outreach, membership development, or network-building in international or cross-border contexts
  • Familiarity with European institutions, civil society organizations, multi-stakeholder initiatives, or transnational networks
  • Proven ability to engage diverse actors across European countries and cultural contexts

Skills & Competencies:
  • Strong interpersonal and intercultural skills with the ability to build trust across sectors and geographies
  • Demonstrated ability in relationship-building and networking, with an established or developing European professional network
  • Strong communication skills and ability to translate strategic priorities into practical engagement
  • Experience with CRM platforms such as Salesforce or Microsoft Dynamics would be beneficial.

Languages

  • Additional European languages (e.g. French, Spanish) are a strong asset and reflect the regional scope of the role.

The Fine Print

Terms & Condition

  • Location: Bonn, Germany.

  • Working Hours: Full time - 40 hours per week.

  • Duration of Employment: Temporary contract - 2 years (extension possible, subject to satisfactory performance).

  • Starting Date: As soon as possible.
